DUSHANBE, November 24, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Deputies of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) have endorsed a bill requiring amendments to the RT Law “On the National Budget for 2011.”
A regular sitting of the third session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the fourth convocation, presided over by its head, Shukurjon Zuhurov, was held on November 23.
Presenting the bill, Minister of Finance Safarali Najmiddinov noted that it provided for exempting Barqi Tojik (the state-owned utility responsible for generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity in Tajikistan) from paying value added tax, customs duties and excise tax on import of 30,000 tons of fuel oil into Tajikistan for the Dushanbe combined heat and power (CHP) plant. “A total amount of these taxes is 27.7 million somoni,” Najmiddinov said.
According to him, the new Dushanbe CHP plant will run on coal-water slurry fuel.
