DUSHANBE, February 17, 2012, Asia-Plus -- 17 countries of the world provided more than US$5 million worth of humanitarian aid to Tajikistan in January 2012, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.
Last month, 41 tons of vegetable oil for US$70,000, 2,300 tons of wheat flour for more than US$1.02 million, more than US$3.1 million worth of medicines and medical equipment, as well as footwear and clothing, food products, and electrical appliances were delivered to the country.
Among the donor countries the greatest share in value came from Egypt – 41.6 percent, the Netherlands – 14.8 percent; Iran – 7.3 percent; Denmark – 6.5 percent, Malaysia – 2.4 percent; Austria – 1/6 percent; Latvia – 1.4 percent, and of the CIS countries: Russia – 21 percent, Kazakhstan – 1.2 percent, and others.
