DUSHANBE, February 22, 2012, Asia-Plus -- Minister of Economic Development and Trade Sharif Rahimzoda has highly appraised activities of Turkish companies in Tajikistan.
On Tuesday February 21, Rahimzoda met here with Turkish Ambassador to Tajikistan Mehmet Munis Dirik.
According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MoEDT), the two discussed issues related to bilateral economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Turkey.
Turkish diplomat reportedly noted that he would take efforts to promote further development of trade and economic relations between the two friendly countries.
According to the statistical data from a MoEDT, Turkey’s share in last year’s external trade turnover of Tajikistan amounted to 13.9 percent.
A two-way trade between Tajikistan and Turkey last year valued at 619.1 million U.S. dollars. This consisted of Tajikistan’s exports to Turkey estimated at 543.9 million U.S. dollars and Tajikistan’s imports from Turkey worth 75.2 million U.S. dollars.
Tajikistan’s exports to Turkey reportedly included primary aluminum, cotton fiber, yarn and unprocessed leather, as well as spare parts of aircraft. Tajikistan’s imports from Turkey included beef and fowl, confectionery, carpets, medicines, textile products, paper, and margarine.
