DUSHANBE, March 27, 2012, Asia-Plus -- About 30 government officials and staff from executing agencies and project implementation units dealing with projects funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) are taking part in a Loan Disbursement Seminar co-hosted by ADB and the Government of Tajikistan in Dushanbe on March 27-28, 2012, press release issued by the ADB Tajikistan Resident Mission (TJRM) reports.
“The key objective of the seminar is to inform, orient and build capacity of its participants on ADB policies and procedures related to loan and grant disbursement,” said Asel Chyngysheva, ADB’s Portfolio Management Specialist, who opened the seminar. “A good understanding of ADB’s disbursement policies, guidelines, practices, and procedures is instrumental for efficient project implementation.”
The seminar consists of lectures, interactive question and answer sessions, group work/role playing exercises, and case studies. Staff from ADB''s Tajikistan Resident Mission will also attend.
ADB''s Financial Control Specialist Viliami Sefesi came from ADB’s headquarters in Manila, Philippines to facilitate the seminar.
ADB''s cumulative assistance to Tajikistan since 1998 has reached around $860 million in concessional loans, grants, and technical assistance. ADB’s operations benefit the population by reducing isolation, increasing communication, broadening access to electricity, improving social services, and creating more income-generating opportunities.
