Russian Agriculture Control Agency has banned import of crop production carried in hand and heavy luggage by passengers coming from Tajikistan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, “Echo Moskvy” quotes related services as saying.
The move is the response to “more frequent import of the so-called quarantine objects”.
“Import of sub-quarantine products from these countries must be accompanied by phytosanitary certificates and only in case when they meet international and Russian phytosanitary standards,” the Russian Agriculture Control Agency said in the release.
The agency, however, did not provide the list of these products.
According to the Tajik Agriculture Ministry’s State Phytosanitary and Plant Quarantine Control Service, there was no official letter from the Russian Agriculture Control Agency. “Currently, we are dealing with this issue but have nothing to tell yet,” the Tajik service has said.
