DUSHANBE, August 16, 2012, Asia-Plus -- Over the first seven months of this year, Tajikistan has produced a total of more than 5.2 billion somoni (equivalent to more than 1.09 billion U.S. dollars) worth of industrial goods, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.
Compared to January-July 2011 the index of the volume of production of industrial goods amounted to 112.0 percent.
Over the report period, 570 enterprises (60.1 percent) have exceeded the January-July 2011 production level. However, there were 125 enterprises, or 13.2 percent of the overall number (949), that were not in operation in January-July 2012.
Processing industry has accounted for 68.1 percent of the overall volume of industrial goods produced over the report period, enterprises producing and distributing electric power, natural gas and water have accounted for 20.2 percent and mining industry has accounted for 11.7 percent.
Of the 89 basic types of industrial products the output of 50 items (56.2 percent) has increased, and the output of 31 items (34.8 percent) has decreased over the report period. Eight basic types of industrial products (3.6 percent) were not manufactured.
Enterprises subject to the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI) have produced more than 1.8 billion somoni worth of goods in January-July this year, which is 20.0 percent more than in the same period last year.
Cotton-processing enterprises have produced some 415 million somoni worth of output over the report period, which is two times more than in January-July 2011.
Enterprises that are not subject to a MoEI have produced more than 780 million somoni worth of goods over the same seven-month period, which is 12.4 percent more than in January-July 2011.
