DUSHANBE, January 30, 2013, Asia-Plus  -- Shares of cotton and aluminum in Tajikistan’s exports declined considerably last year.

According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MEDT), a share of cotton declined from 17.3 percent in 2011 to 16.5 percent in 2012 and a share of aluminum declined from 54.6 percent in 2011 to 39.5 percent in 2012.

Compared to 2011, aluminum production reportedly fell two percent last year.  In 2012, Tajikistan produced 272,500 tons of primary aluminum.

Last year, Tajikistan yielded 418,900 tons fo raw cotton, which was 3,200 tons more than in 2011, the source added.
