DUSHANBE, March 1, 2013, Asia-Plus -- Preparations for a cotton-sowing campaign are progressing in Tajikistan.
According to the seed-growing department of the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), Tajik famrers have stockpiled 47,000 tons of cotton seeds for this year’s cotton-sowing campaign.
We will recall that Tajik farmers yielded some 415,000 tons of raw cotton last year, 3.3 percent more than it was originally planned. Last year, 203,000 hectares were allocated to cotton cultivation in Tajikistan.
