DUSHANBE, March 2, 2013, Asia-Plus -- According to official statistical data, no one liter of gasoline was delivered to Tajikistan over the first 24 days of February.
Only 13,773 tons of oil products were delivered to the country over the report period. A totaled reportedly included 9,400 tons of aviation kerosene, 1,700 of diesel fuel, 1,100 tons of fuel oil, 932 tons of bitumen and 540 tons of lubricating oil and no one ton of gasoline.
Meanwhile Tajikistan’s monthly requirements in gasoline and liquefied gas are 49,000 tons and 15,000 tons respectively.
According to the statistical data from the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI), only 9,000 tons of gasoline were delivered to the country in January. And it''s anybody''s guess whence come the remaining 40,000 tons of gasoline at the refueling stations?
According to data from the Customs Service under the Government of Tajikistan, 300-350 tank trucks carrying gasoline illegally cross Kyrgyz-Tajik border every day. Since oil products are delivered in small consignments, this cargo does not considered to be contraband under Tajikistan’s legislation.
