DUSHANBE, April 4, 2013, Asia-Plus -- The fourth meeting of the Tajik-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation took place in Dushanbe on April 3, the Tajik MFA information department reports.
Co-chaired by Tajik Minister of Economic Development and Trade Sharif Rahimzoda and Ukrainian Minister for Regional Development, Construction and Housing Gennady Temnik, the meeting discussed bilateral cooperation between the two nations in sectors like energy, industry, transportation, construction, agriculture, science and culture.
The meeting participants also discussed expansion of legal foundation and adopted recommendations on further expansion of mutually beneficial economic cooperation between the two countries.
The delegations reportedly also considered issues related to training of personnel for Tajikistan at Ukrainian universities, the source said, noting that the meeting resulted in signing of a protocol.
The previous third meeting of the commission was held in Kiev, Ukraine from December 5 to December 6, 2011.
According to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, a two-way trade between Tajikistan and Ukraine in 2012 valued at some 94 million U.S. dollars. Tajikistan’s imports from Ukraine accounted for 95 percent of trade turnover between Tajikistan and Ukraine.
