DUSHANBE, May 3, 2013, Asia-Plus -- The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Country Office in Tajikistan is helping the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan improve the quality of collection of the food security data in twelve pilot districts, according to FAO CO in Tajikistan.
According to the FAO CO in Tajikistan, basic computer skills training for statisticians kicked off in ten jamoats of the Tursunzoda district on May 2.
The training that is aimed at raising the quality, timeliness and reliability of the collected food security data is being conducted in the framework of the project, Support for Strengthening of the National Food Security Information System in Tajikistan.
The project is being implemented the following pilot districts: Tursunzoda; Roudaki, Hisor; Ayni; Istaravshan; Bokhtar; Bobojonghafourov; Vakhsh; Vose; Kulob; Darvoz; and Tavildara.
The objectives of the “Support for Strengthening of the National Food Security Information System in Tajikistan” Project are to establish and strengthen information systems for food security in order to improve the quality of food security and relief interventions; to assist the government of Tajikistan and its international development partners to effectively respond to the short, medium and long-term food security needs of the population; and to improve market information systems and services to promote the development of private-sector agriculture and trade.
