KULOB, June 3, 2013, Asia-Plus -- Farmers in the Farkhor district are the first in the Kulob region to start the harvesting campaign this year.
An official source at the Kulob agriculture department says more than 40 grain harvester combines from the whole Kulob region have been sent to the Farkhor district.
According to him, farmers in the area now yield no less than 2.5 tons from one hectare of dry-farming lands.
“A new wheat variety has been sown on the experimental plot in the Boston Farm, Dehqon Ariq Jamoat and farmers are expected to yield 7.5-8.0 tons of wheat from one hectare on that plot,” the source added.
This year, farmers in Farkhor have sown wheat on 11,193 hectares.
