DUSHANBE, June 14, 2013, Asia-Plus -- Tajikistan has reportedly increased liquefied gas imports considerably.

Tajikistan imports liquefied gas both by tank trucks and rail cars.

According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MoEDT), 72,100 of liquefied gas has been imported into Tajikistan over the first five months, mainly from Kazakhstan, 37,600 tons more than in the same period last year.

“In May, liquefied gas imports totaled 13,900 tons, which is 2,500 tons less compared to April of the current year,” an official source at a MoEDT told Asia-Plus in an interview.

This year, the average price of one ton of liquefied gas has been 604.00 USD, which is 56.00 USD lower than last year.

Last year, Tajikistan reportedly imported 81,200 tons of liquefied gas from Kazakhstan, which was 28,200 tons more than in 2011.

Over 40% of country’s transportation now uses liquefied gas due to high gasoline prices.

The following companies are the main suppliers of liquefied gas to Tajikistan: Tojiron, Faroz, Zet Gaz, Gazpromneft-Tajikistan, and Mohammad Poulod.
