DUSHANBE, July 2, 2013, Asia-Plus – Tajik central bank has denied reports about entry of counterfeit somoni banknotes into circulation as absolutely baseless.
No one case of entry of fake somoni banknotes into circulation has been registered in the country since the beginning of the year, the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) said.
A number of preventive measures have been taken as part of implementation of the separate provisions of the working plan and a letter recommending to display vigilance while conducting money transactions has been sent to financial institutions, credit organizations and currency exchange offices, the NBT press center said.
The NBT stresses that the national currency of Tajikistan has quite a high level of protection and attempts by separate persons to counterfeit the somoni banknotes were not successful, the NBT press center noted.
