DUSHANBE, July 10, 2013, Asia-Plus -- On Wednesday July 10, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon received Mr. Ari Aisen, resident representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Tajikistan, who introduced his successor, Mr. Aidyn Bibolov, to President Rahmon, the Tajik president’s website reports.

In the course of the talks, the sides considered issues related to state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the IMF as well as the socioeconomic development indicators of Tajikistan.

They reportedly noted with satisfaction that the gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate for the first six months of this year has stood at 7.5 percent and inflation over the report period has stood at 1.6 percent.

The sides also noted that Tajikistan’s economy needs support of international financial institutions for mitigation of effects of the ongoing global financial and economic crisis and increase in fuel and food prices, the Tajik president’s website said.
