Dushanbe. 23 August. “Asia-Plus” – Safarali Najmiddinov, Tajik Minister of Finance, met with the Eurasian Development Bank representatives headed by Deputy Chair of the Bank, Sergey Shatalov, on 22 August in Dushanbe.
According to the Ministry of Finance information, the parties discussed promising areas of joint programs for 2013, as well as the medium term of 2014-2016, as well as coordination of Tajikistan’s cooperation with EDB and other international financial institutions.
During the meeting, special attention was paid to the development of energy sector in Tajikistan, including the repair works and replacement of obsolete equipment of Nurek hydropower station, as well as technical-economic study for the construction of CASA-1000 high voltage power lines and the possibility to use other alternative energy sources.
Mr. Shatlov stated: “Tajikistan’s cooperation with EDB is done through implementation of investment projects on priority development directions of the Republic’s economy through coordination of joint actions. Successful reforms in the country led to the increase of welfare of people in Tajikistan, and poverty level has a tendency to decrease year by year.”
