Dushanbe. 23 August. “Asia-Plus” – The Tajik Railroad Company was forced to decrease the number of trains on Dushanbe-Moscow route due to decreased passenger flow.
Tajik Railroad Company told Asia-Plus that today instead of five trains only three trains transport passengers to Moscow.
The Company noted: “Increase and decrease of passenger flow is a normal process. Perhaps after a week the situation will change – it will either continue decreasing or increase.”
Tajik Railroad Company also informed that due to the renewal of the fleet, one of the trains has been changed to a new one, and others had scheduled maintenance. Furthermore, over 100 new train cars are going to be bought this year.
According to the Tajik Railroad Company, 306 freight cars, 15 passenger cars, and 4 locomotives were bought during 2012. By the end of 2012 the Tajik Railroad fleet consisted of 2 thousand 119 freight cars, 439 passenger cars, and 59 locomotives.
