DUSHANBE, September 17, 2013, Asia-Plus -- Over the first eight months of this year, the external trade turnover of Tajikistan, including electrical power and natural gas, has amounted to more than 3.4 billion U.S. dollars, which was 105.6 percent of the January-August 2012 level or 181.6 million U.S. dollars more, according the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan. 

The trade balance was negative and amounted to some 1.8 billion U.S. dollars.

Exports of goods in January-August this year have amounted to 813.3 million U.S. dollars, which was 6.3 percent, or 54.6 million U.S. dollars, fewer than in the same period last year.

Imports of goods into the country over the same eight-month period have amounted to more than 2.602 billion U.S. dollars, which was 10 percent, or 236.2 million U.S. dollars, more than in January-August last year.

In January-August this year, Tajikistan has had relations with 96 countries of the world, including ten CIS nations.

In January-August 2013, Tajikistan’s major trading partners were: Russia – more than 633 million U.S. dollars; Turkey – more than 443 million U.S. dollars; Kazakhstan – some 423 million U.S. dollars; China – little more than 415 million U.S. dollars; and Iran – more than 210 U.S. dollars, the Agency for Statistics said.
