DUSHANBE, November 27, 2013, Asia-Plus -- Tajik grain growers have reportedly completed the main wheat-harvesting campaign.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), 872,900 tons of wheat have been harvested in Tajikistan this year, which is 210,000 tons more than last year.
“The wheat-harvesting campaign is still continuing and this figure may increase by the end of the year,” an official source at a MoA said.
1.2794 million tons of cereals have reportedly been produced in Tajikistan over the first ten months of this year, which is 46,800 tons more than in the same period last year.
This year, gain crops have been planted on 405,054 hectares and yield per hectare is, on average, 2.94 tons, 0.4 more than in the same period last year, the source added.
