DUSHANBE, December 20, 2013, Asia-Plus -- The Yovon cement plant that was introduced into operation in late September has produced some 230,000 tons of cement by early December, according to the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies (MoINT).

An official source at a MoINT says the plant now produces two types of cement – M-400 and M-500.

Tajikistan-China joint venture, Huaxin Gayur Cement Co., Ltd, operates the Yovon cement plant and 534 people, with 80 percent of them being Tajik nations, now work with the plant.  

Putting the plant in commission led to the decrease in cement prices in Tajikistan, the source added.  The price of one kilogram of cement has reportedly fallen from 1.20 somoni to 0.80 somoni. 

The Yovon cement plant with annual capacity of one million tons works on coal. The latest technologies were reportedly used to build the plant and it meets regional environmental requirements.

Huaxin Gayur Cement Co., Ltd was established by Huaxin Zhongya Investment (Wuhan) Co., Ltd, the subsidiary of Huaxin Cement Co., Ltd, and Gayur Limited Liability Company.

Huaxin Zhongya Investment (Wuhan) Investment Co., Ltd assumes the 75% ownership interest and Gayur Limited Liability Company owns 25 percent of the shares in Huaxin Gayur Cement Co., Ltd.

Tajikistan’s annual requirements in cement have sharply increased in connection with construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power plant (HPP), highways and other facilities of the nationwide significance.
