DUSHANBE, December 20, 2013, Asia-Plus -- Tajikistan’s liquefied gas imports have increased nearly 2.6 times to more than 192,000 tons in eleven months to December 1, 2013, according to the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources (MoEWR).
In January-November 2012, Tajikistan imported some 75,000 tons of liquefied gas, an official source at a MoEWR said.
Little more than 18,000 tons of liquefied gas were shipped to Tajikistan last month, which is 10 percent fewer compared to October 213.
Kazakhstan provides the bulk of Tajikistan’s liquefied gas imports. Tajikistan also imports liquefied gas from the Russian Federation, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Tajikistan imports liquefied gas by tanker and rail car. More than 40 percent of Tajikistan’s transportation now uses liquefied gas due to high gasoline prices.
