DUSHANBE, December 24, 2013, Asia-Plus -- On December 20, Tajik Ambassador to the United States Nouriddin Shamsov met with Deputy Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for South and Central Asia Mara Burr, according to the Tajik MFA information department.
The sides reportedly discussed state and prospects of further expansion of economic cooperation between Tajikistan and the United States.
Ambassador Shamsov, in particular, noted that Tajikistan’s joining the World Trade Organization (WTO) and international trade and economic system had created favorable conditions for further expansion of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in different areas.
For her part, Ms. Burr stressed that the United States would continue mutually beneficial cooperation with Tajikistan on developing Tajikistan’s water-and-energy sector, introducing modern methods of reduction of energy losses, improving customs procedures, and promoting participation wide participation of women in economic development of Tajikistan, the Tajik MFA information department said.
