DUSHANBE, October 16, 2014, Asia-Plus -- Based on current data, Tajikistan’s gross domestic product (GDP) totaled more than 31.5 billion somoni (equivalent to more than 6.3 billion U.S. dollars) in January-September this year, an increase of 6.9 percent over the same period last year in comparable prices, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.
GDP structure by sources of income included: agriculture, hunting, forestry and fishing – 22.5 percent; sale and repair of automobiles and home appliances and consumer goods, hotels and restaurants – 14.8 percent; taxes – 14.3 percent; transportation, communications and warehousing – 13.9 percent; industry and energy – 11.4 percent; construction – 3.3 percent; etc.
We will recall that Tajikistan’s GDP for 2013 was 40.5245 billion somoni (equivalent to more than 8.5 billion U.S. dollars), an increase of 7.4 percent over 2012 in comparable prices.
Specialists from the Ministry of Finance forecast that the country’s GDP for this year will stand at 40.5245 billion somoni (equivalent to more than 9.7 billion U.S. dollars), an increase of 7.6 percent over last year comparable prices.
Meanwhile, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) predicts that Tajikistan’s GDP will rise 6.2 percent this year.
