DUSHANBE, May 20, 2015, Asia-Plus – A business delegation of Russia’s Ivanovo Oblast, led by Ivanovo Governor Pavel Konkov, is expected to visit Tajikistan.
Russian Trade Mission in Tajikistan says the delegation will arrive in Dushanbe on May 22.
The delegation is scheduled to hold talks with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper house of parliament) Speaker Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, members of the Tajik government, senior representatives of Sughd and Khatlon authorities, heads of Tajik banks and representatives of Tajik business community.
Russian Ivanovo Oblast and Tajik Sughd Province are expected to sign an agreement on economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation, the source said.
We will recall that Ivanovo Oblast concluded similar agreement with Tajik Khatlon Province on the sidelines of the 4th Tajikistan-Russian inter-parliamentary forum that took place in Moscow in October 2014.
Ivanovo Oblast is a federal subject of the Russian Federation (an oblast). Its three largest cities are Ivanovo (the administrative center), Kineshma, and Shuya. The principal center of tourism is Plyos. The Volga River flows through the northern part of the oblast.
Ivanovo Industrial Oblast was established on January 14, 1929. On March 11, 1936, this area became the modern Ivanovo Oblast while other territories of the province were split to create Yaroslavl Oblast.
