DUSHANBE, July 7, 2015, Asia-Plus -- Carpet weavers from Sughd province are expected to be exempted again from paying value added tax (VAT) and customs duties for delivery of a loom from Belgium.
A source in the Tajik government says the government has prepared amendments to the country’s law on the national budget for 2015, under which the Khujand-based limited liability company, Qolinhoi Sughd (Carpets of Sughd), will be exempted from paying VAT and customs duties for the € 965,500 worth of the loom that will be delivered from Belgium.
We will recall that in November last year Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament endorsed amendments, under which Qolinhoi Sughd was exempted from paying VAT and customs duties for delivery of similar loom from Belgium.
“Introduction of both looms into operation is expected to create more than 40 new jobs and annual receipts from the enterprise to the national budget will increase by more than 4 million somoni,” the source said.
