DUSHANBE, July 23, 2015, Asia-Plus -- President Emomali Rahmon is expected to attend an official commencement of construction of the Sebzor hydroelectric power plant (HPP) in the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).
Tajik Minister of Energy and Water Resources Usmonali Usmonzoda told reporters in Dushanbe yesterday that Emomali Rahmon is expected to pay visit to Gorno Badakhshan within the next few days.
According to him, the Sebzor HPP with capacity of 12 MW will be built in the Roshtqala district and it will allow meeting the region’s requirements in electricity and exporting electricity to neighboring areas of Afghanistan.
The hydropower plant will be built in the Sebzor area, some 15 kilometers of Khorog, the capital of Gorno Badakhshan.
The Sebzor HPP is expected to provide with electricity new facilities being built in Khorog, including the University of Central Asia (UCA)’s campus in Khorog.
