Dushanbe. 13 August. “Asia Plus” -- As “AP” was informed by the State Committee on Investments and State Property Management of the RT, during the current year the international donors will provide around $204 million for development of the energy sector.
According to the source, this year the volume of assistance from the development partners to the energy sector of Tajikistan is 2,7 times more than in 2014. He stressed out that last year financing of this sector summed up to $65,7 million and was implemented by 14 donors within 18 external assistance projects
According to the Committee’s data the most part of the assistance in 2014 came from EximBank of China ($ 24,6 million) and Asian Development Bank ($23 million) that sums up to 37,7% and 35.2% out of the overall volume of assistance to this sector.
Last year this sector has also been supported by the World Bank ($ 5,8 million), European Union ($2,6 million) and others.
The Committee noted that within the period of 2002 – 2008 there was a tendency for growing assistance to the energy sector, the maximum volume of assistance that summed up to $ 176 million was provided in 2008.
“During the following years the assistance to this sector has decreased and in 2012 has reached almost $38 million” – the source said. – However, starting from 2013 assistance to the sector has increased again and last year it summed up to $65,7 million or 16.7% out of the overall volume of assistance to the country”.
