DUSHANBE, October 30, 2015, Asia-Plus – On Thursday October 29, senior representatives of the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) met here with Mr. Hans Timmer, Chief Economist, Europe and Central Asia, World Bank (WB).
According to the NBT press center, the two sides discussed a broad range of issues related to development of the countries of the region, instability of economic development of the countries of the region, and prospects of economic cooperation between them.
They reportedly also exchanged views on problems of decrease in the international oil prices, real exchange rates of the national currencies, and social support measures.
We will recall that Mr. Hans Timmer arrived in Dushanbe on a four-day visit on October 27. Yesterday, he also presented the World Bank Europe and Central Asia Economic Outlook Report (October 2015) “Low Commodity Prices and Weak Currencies.”
The World Bank’s active portfolio in Tajikistan includes 26 projects (including regional projects) with a net commitment of US$406.2 million that aim to support economic growth through private sector development, while investing in better public services for people, such as education, health, municipal services and social protection. The World Bank Group is committed to continue supporting Tajikistan as it strives to improve the lives of its people and meet the aspirations of its young and growing population.
