DUSHANBE, November 20, 2015, Asia-Plus – Tajikistan’s foreign debt is down by 50 million U.S. dollars over the first nine months of this year, according to the Ministry of Finance (MoF).
As of October 1, 2015, Tajikistan’s foreign debt reportedly amounted to little more than 2.05 billion U.S. dollars. As of January 1, 2015, the country’s foreign debt amounted to 2.1 billion U.S. dollars.
Meanwhile, the government''s debt in the structure of the country’s foreign debt is estimated at more than 1.8 billion U.S. dollars.
The volume of the government-guaranteed debts in the structure of the foreign debt reportedly amounts to more than 21.7 million U.S. dollars.
Meanwhile, debts of state-run enterprises that are not provided with government guarantees amount to 31.5 U.S. dollars.
Loans from international financial institutions and foreign banks reportedly form the bulk of Tajikistan’s foreign debt. The National bank of Tajikistan (NBT) now faces a US$139.5 million payment to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Besides, Tajik central bank now owes 12 million U.S. dollars to China and 5.54 million U.S. dollars to the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB).
