DUSHANBE, November 26, 2016, Asia-Plus -- Tajikistan’s State Committee on Investment and State-owned Property Management (GosKomInvest) and the Movement of the Enterprises of France (MEDEF) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on bilateral cooperation.

The document was inked by Mr. Qodir Qosim GosKomInvest, Chairman of GosKomInvest and Mr. Jean Burelle, CEO of MEDEF on November 24 in Paris on the sidelines of the OECD Eurasian Week, which kicked off on November 23 and concluded on November 26.

The OECD Eurasia Week builds on the work of the OECD Eurasia Competitiveness Program and creates an opportunity to further strengthen the relations between the countries of the Eurasia region and the OECD.  It is also an opportunity to raise the visibility of the enhanced co-operation on a broad spectrum of thematic issues relevant to further improving the region’s competitiveness.

The theme for the 2015 edition of the OECD Eurasia Week was “Better Institutions, Interconnectedness and Inclusiveness for Competitiveness in Eurasia.”

The OECD Eurasia Competitiveness Program is the regional program, which supports developing more vibrant and competitive markets – both at national and regional level – through capacity building and advisory work to improve the business climate in Central Asia, South Caucasus and Ukraine.

According to GosKomInvest, a Tajik delegation that participated in the event consisted of senior representatives of GosKomInvest, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT), and representatives of Tajik business community.

Established in 1998, MEDEF is the largest employer federation in France. It replaced the National Council of the French Employers", which was founded in 1946.

MEDEF has more than 750,000 member firms, 90 percent of them being small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with fewer than 50 employees. MEDEF is engaged in lobbying at local, regional, national, and EU-wide levels.

Every year, MEDEF International organizes a number of delegations of French business leaders with tangible projects to targeted countries, especially developing countries.  MEDEF espouses sustainable development, raising companies’ awareness to the fact that environmental protection can also feature among their competitive advantages.
