DUSHANBE, January 25, 2016, Asia-Plus -- The gross domestic product (GDP) rose 6 percent in a year to December 31, 2015, reaching 48.4016 billion somoni, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

Last year, GDP structure by sources of income included: agriculture, hunting, forestry and fishing – 21.9 percent; sale and repair of automobiles and home appliances and consumer goods, hotels and restaurants – 14.2 percent; transportation, communications and warehousing – 10.8 percent; industry and energy – 12.8 percent; taxes – 12.3 percent; construction – 11.8 percent; etc.

 In 2014, the gross domestic product was 45.6053 billion somoni, an increase of 6.7 percent over 2013 in comparable prices.  In 2013, the gross domestic product was 40.5245 billion somoni.

Meanwhile, international financial institutions forecasted annual domestic product (GDP) growth for Tajikistan to slow appreciably this year.

The Asian Development Bank ADB''s flagship economic publication, Asian Development Outlook 2015 (ADO), forecasted annual gross domestic product growth for Tajikistan to slow to 4.0 percent in 2015, and 4.8 percent in 2016, reflecting a recession in the Russian Federation and continued weakness in forecast commodity prices.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) forecasted annual GDP growth for Tajikistan to slow to 4.4 percent in 2015.

The World Bank forecasted annual GDP growth for Tajikistan to slow to 6.0 percent in 2015.
