DUSHANBE, May 4, 2016, Asia-Plus – Tajikistan plans to supply electricity to the Islamic Republic of Iran via power systems of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan in the future, according to the State Committee on Investment and State-owned Property Management (GosKomInvest).

The project on construction of a 500 kW power transmission line Roghun-Regar-Guzar-Karakul-Charjou-Mary-Mashhad reportedly costs 166.5 million U.S. dollars.  

Judging from the power transmission line itinerary, Tajikistan intends to supply to Iran electricity that will be generated by the Roghun hydroelectric power plant (HPP).

GosKomInvest is seeking investors for implementation of this project.

Currently Tajikistan supplies surplus electric power available in summer months to Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan.
