DUSHANBE, June 22, 2016, Asia-Plus -- Spitamen Bank has officially joined the program on financial literacy in Tajikistan.

This program is being implemented in the country by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) under support of the Swiss Government (SECO) and in partnership with financial institutions.

The agreement was signed in early June this year. "This is a very important and necessary program that promotes financial literacy of the population and contributes to an overall increase in the level of their welfare, development of financial institutions products and services, and, to some extent, the development of the national economy", - said Chairman of the Board of Spitamen Bank, Niyozmurod Saidmurod.

Under the agreement, Spitamen Bank will conduct various activities aimed at improving the financial literacy of the population.

The agreement is reportedly part of an overall program in order to improve the financial literacy of the population, which is launched in the spring of 2016 and which includes three main areas: 1) increase the level of financial literacy of the adult population; 2) increase the level of financial literacy of students; and 3) increase the level of financial literacy of high school students.

Spitamen Bank is a bank operating nationwide in Tajikistan, under license from National Bank of Tajikistan.

Spitamen Bank started its Microcredit Deposit Organization in the country as Spitamen Capital in 2008 leading to a banking license from the National Bank of Tajikistan by 2014.  The company holds the license for banking operations in both local and foreign currency.
