More than 100 representatives of Turkmenistan will arrive in Dushanbe on April 8 to participate in the first meeting of the Tajikistan-Turkmenistan Business Council and a business forum of entrepreneurs of the two countries that take place here on April 8 and 9.
The press center of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan (CCI) says the Business Council meeting will take place at the National Library of Tajikistan on April 8 (starting time: 5:00 pm).
The meeting participants will discuss issues related to prospects of further expansion of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, investment, seeking new business partners, etc.
On April 9, an exhibition of export products of both countries will officially at 10:00 am and the business forum will open at 11:30 am and bilateral meetings in B2B format are expected to start at 3:00 pm.
An official source within the CCI says senior representatives of more than 67 Turkmen companies engaged in production of plastic products, home appliances, textiles, confectionery, and stationery will participate in the forum.
Besides, representatives of tour operators, construction and consulting companies will participate in the forum.
According to some sources, Tajikistan is expected to be represented by more than 200 entrepreneurs at the upcoming business forum.
According to data from the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, a two-way trade between Tajikistan and India over the first two months of this year has valued at about US$11.8 million, which is 1.9 percent more than in the same period last year.
This consisted of Tajikistan’s exports to Turkmenistan estimated at almost US$200,000 and Tajikistan’s imports from Turkmenistan worth almost US$11.6 million.
