The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) says it is working to extend 100 million US dollars to Somon Air two acquire to Boeing 737 aircraft.
Press release issued by the EDB yesterday says that according to Somon Air’s fleet expansion strategy, the airline plans to procure two aircraft of this model in 2024.
Somon Air’s passenger traffic has been on the rise since 2020 and is anticipated to surpass pre-pandemic levels, reaching 787,600 passengers in 2023 compared to 672,500 in 2019.
Presently, the airline operates its primary passenger flights with a fleet consisting of six Boeing 737 aircraft of various modifications.
EDB notes that by 2026, Somon Air reportedly plans to broaden its geographical reach with new flights routes: from Khujand to Jeddah, Dubai, Urumqi and Istanbul in 2024; from Dushanbe to Antalya, Riyadh and Sharm El-Sheikh in 2024; to Seoul, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Guangzhou, Tbilisi, Mashhad, Paris and Bangkok in 2025; and to New York, London, Beijing, Madrid, Vienna, Tel Aviv, Kyiv, Milan, Toronto and Warsaw in 2026.
