Discussions on establishing a joint venture with Iran for the production of elevators and escalators took place in Dushanbe, according to the Dushanbe Administration.
The matter was reportedly discussed during a meeting between Dushanbe Deputy Mayor Abdurahmon Abdurahmonzoda and representatives of the Iranian company Behran Lift, which specializes in manufacturing elevators and escalators.
The parties explored investment opportunities in the Tajik capital.
Representatives of the company expressed their intention to create a joint venture in Dushanbe. Their plans reportedly include not only manufacturing elevators and escalators for the local market but also exporting products to neighboring countries.
Previously, Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali instructed that elevators in high-rise buildings constructed before independence be replaced using the city budget. Old, deteriorated elevators in dangerous condition will be replaced with modern ones.
The State Industrial Safety Oversight Service says that in the past, each building entrance had dedicated elevator operators responsible for maintenance and responding to emergency calls. However, today, call buttons in elevators are often missing, as buildings are maintained by residents who do not pay for elevator operator services.
It is worth noting that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is scheduled to pay a working visit to Tajikistan in mid-January.
His visit will be accompanied by a large delegation of representatives of Iran’s business community, including those from the industrial, mining, and agricultural sectors.
Behran Lift is a manufacturing enterprise producing escalators, full package elevators, and components for various types of elevator systems and mechanisms.
