Tajikistan’s privately owned air company, Somon Air, has announced the launch of a new direct flight route between Dushanbe and Mineralnye Vody, Russia. The first flight is scheduled for November 30, 2025, according to the airline's website.

Flights will operate weekly, every Sunday. Somon Air noted that the launch of this new route is part of the airline’s strategy to expand its network and strengthen air connectivity between Tajikistan and Russia.

Tickets can be purchased by calling (+992) 44 640 40 49 or through Somon Air's official website. As of November 1, one-way economy class tickets for the November 30 flight were priced at 2,350 somonis, while business class tickets cost 5,090 somonis.

The flight duration is 3 hours and 40 minutes aboard a Boeing 737-900NG.

Why Mineralnye Vody?

Mineralnye Vody is located in the southern part of Russia, in the Stavropol Krai, approximately 172 km southeast of the regional capital, Stavropol. It is part of the larger resort area known as the Caucasian Mineral Waters.

Unlike typical tourist cities, Mineralnye Vody does not feature large shopping centers, bazaars, or world-famous landmarks. It is more of a peaceful retreat destination. One of the city's main attractions is Mount Zmeyka, a natural landmark offering scenic views of the surrounding area. Visitors can hike to the top of the mountain, which provides an ideal spot for walks and photos. Several pedestrian trails lead to the summit.

Mineralnye Vody serves as a transport hub with easy access to other popular resorts in the Caucasian Mineral Waters region, such as Pyatigorsk, Kislovodsk, and Yessentuki. In Pyatigorsk, tourists can visit the famous Mount Mashuk, while in Kislovodsk, the Narzan Gallery and park are popular due to the unique mineral waters. Yessentuki is known for its therapeutic springs, all of which are easily accessible by train or bus.

The city also boasts several museums and a renovated city park, featuring a new Ferris wheel, sports grounds, and a fountain with colorful lighting. The largest entertainment center in the city, "Vershina," offers a game arcade, a multi-screen cinema, and a VR attraction called Futurift.

The local cuisine predominantly features North Caucasian and European dishes, with an emphasis on grilled meats, shashlik, and Georgian specialties. Tasting local favorites like pilaw, kebab, khachapuri, and khinkali is also a must for visitors.
