One dies in accident at Anzob tunnel

KHUJAND, June 13, Asia-Plus - One person has been killed in an accident at the Anzob tunnel in northern
Tajikistan
.
The Sughd police department source told Asia-Plus that the accident took place Saturday [June 10] at
10:30 p.m.
According to the source, the accident happened while trimming works were being carried out in the tunnel. A 26-year-old resident of the
village
of
Takfon
in the Ayni district, Rafael Kenjayev, was killed as a huge stone fell from the upper part of the tunnel and pressed down him.
The Ayni prosecutor’s office has instituted criminal proceedings to investigate the accident.
