Tajik national budget stipulates expenditure of up to 20 million Somonis on mitigation of disaster risks: Tajik vice-premier

Tajikistan
annually stipulates 18 million – 20 million Somonis on mitigation of effects of the natural disasters, Deputy Prime Minister Asadullo Ghulomov, announced at an international conference on the implementation of the Hyogo Declaration in
Dushanbe
on June 28.
According to him, priorities include management of the disasters risks and preventive measures. “We realize that the problems on protection of the population against the natural disasters can be tackled only by means of joint concerted activity of all states and enlistment of services of international organizations,” the deputy prime minister said, adding that
Tajikistan
is interested in creation of a joint mechanism for mitigating the disaster risks.
“In
Tajikistan
, seeking solution to this problem is a part of the country’s national policy,” Asadullo Ghulomov said. According to him,
Tajikistan
is expanding cooperation with international organizations on exchange of information, provision of humanitarian aid, reinforcement of riverbank protection works, provision of the population in the southern regions of the country with safe drinking water.
