DUSHANBE, February 20, Asia-Plus -- President Emomali Rahmon yesterday had a telephone conversation with his Kazakh counterpart, President Nursultan Nazarbayev, presidential press service said.
In the course of the conversation, the two exchanged views on the situation that had emerged in Tajikistan in connection with unusually cold weather.
Nazarbayev, in particular, said that by special resolution of the Kazakh government an urgent humanitarian aid would be sent to Tajikistan. The assistance includes 1,000 tons of fuel oil, diesel fuel, foodstuffs and essential goods for a total amount of some $3 million.
At request of the Tajik president Nazarbayev charged his government to allot Tajikistan a special preferential quotas for purchasing fuel oil, diesel fuel, seeds and mineral fertilizers, presidential press service said.
