KHUJAND, February 22, Asia-Plus -- Three underage girls from one family in Sughd’s Zafarobod district died of carbon monoxide poisoning on February 19, according to the Sughd police directorate.
The source at the Sughd police directorate said that the tragedy had taken place in the Soliyev family in the Mehnatobod jamoat. “Their house is heated by Tajik national stove ‘sandali’,” said the source “At that moment only five underage girls, four daughters of Soliyev and 10-yer-old Ughuloy Sharipova that was on visit to their house, were at home. Three of girls – 16-year-old Mashhoura, 14-year-old Shoista and 12-year-old Gulnoza died and 10-year-old Shoira and 10-year-old Ughuloy were saved by medical workers.”
According to official data, more than 10 people died of carbon monoxide poisoning in northern Tajikistan in January alone.
