KHUJAND, November 25, 2008, Asia-Plus-- A seven-year-old girl from Suhgd’s Istaravshan district was killed Monday as a car VAZ 2106 hit her, according to the Sughd police directorate.
The accident took place in the village of Tabkok in the morning. “The car hit her when she was crossing the road,” the source said, noting that 8 persons have been killed and 8 others have been injured in accidents registered in the province over the last week.
In all, 283 traffic accidents have been registered in northern Tajikistan since the beginning of the year, which is 56 cases fewer than in the same period of last year. 147 persons have been killed and 415 other have been injured in the traffic accidents registered in Sughd this year.
Over the same period of last year, 134 persons had been killed and 490 others had been injured in the traffic accidents in Sughd.
