QURGHON TEPPA, December 1, 2008, Asia-Plus -- Five persons were killed on November 28 as two cars collided in Khatlon’s Khuroson district, according to the Khatlon traffic police department.
Yormahmad Davlatov, a spokesman for the Khatlon traffic police department, said the accident took place near the village of Mehnat at around 5:00 p.m. “Mercedes-Benz went into oncoming traffic and collided with VAZ-2109,” said the spokesman, “As a result of collision Mercedes fell into river and its driver and four passengers died.”
Davlatov further added that 140 people had been killed and 388 others had been injured in 341 traffic accidents registered in the province since the beginning of the year.
