DUSHANBE, December 2, 2008, Asia-Plus -- A fire, which broke out on the night of November 29-30 in the storage warehouse at the Pirogov Street in Dushanbe, destroyed nearly 2 million US dollars worth of carpets belonging to Iranian entrepreneur Mohammad Khaksar, according to the main firefighting directorate within the Ministry of Interior.
A space of some 400 square meters was enveloped by the fire and six firefighting crews were involved in extinguishing it, the source said. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Press service of the main firefighting directorate said that 29 fires had been reported in the country over past week. A total damage caused by those fires has exceeded 6 million somoni.
