KHUJAND, January 4, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Driver has hit a cyclist in Khujand and instead of taking him to hospital he has taken him to the uranium waste dump near the city of Chkalovsk where the cyclist has died, according to the Sughd police directorate.
“On December 31, Nissan-Infinity, driven by a 38-year-old resident of the city of Chkalovsk Iskandar Nazirshoyev, hit a cyclist, a 27-year-old resident of the Ghonchi district Nabi Mirsaidov, in Khujand,” said the source at the police directorate, “Nazirshoyev picked up Mirsaidov but instead of taking him to medical facility where he could receive medical aid, he took him to the uranium waste dump near the city of Chkalovsk, where Mirsaidov died.”
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Nazirshoyev and an investigation is under way.
