DUSHANBE, July 26, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Unidentified gunmen have shot resident of Hamadoni district (Khatlon province) to death at the Tajik-Afghan border, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
The source at a MoI said the incident took place near the border village of Sarichashma in Shuroobod district, Khatlon province last Saturday, July 24. “Unidentified gunmen shot the 39-year-old Bahriddin Odinayev from Hamadoni to death,” said he, “Odinayev had previous conviction for drug trafficking.”
Two cartridges of assault rifle Kalashnikov were found on the spot, the sources added. Criminal proceedings have been instituted on a murder charge and an investigation is under way.
We will recall that 17 crimes involving illegally bearing, possessing, and acquiring weapons have been reported in the country over the first six months of this year.
