DUSHANBE, September 11, 2010, Asia-Plus  -- Disorderliness of serviceman has led to explosion of a consignment of firearms in Gharm district, Rasht Valley.

The incident took place on September 9.  “Disorderly serviceman of one of subunits of the Ministry of Defense deployed in Gharm district set fire to dry grass not far from the subunit that caused a fire.  The soldier tried to extinguish the fire on his own but failed,” said the source.  “The fire spread to the trench where firearms and ammunition were stockpiled; grenade launcher and ammunition blew up. Fortunately, no injured was reported.”

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the disorderly serviceman and an investigation is under way.
