DUSHANBE, July 19, 2011, Asia-Plus -- 78 natural disasters reported in Tajikistan over the first six months of this year killed eight persons, Khaybullo Latipov, head of the Committee for Emergency Situations (CES) under the Government of Tajikistan, announced at a news conference in Dushanbe on July 19.
According to him, 195 natural disasters were registered in the country over the report period last year and 49 persons were killed by those disasters.
“Disasters registered in the country in January-June 2011 have damaged 662 residential buildings and damage has been estimated at 1,702,300 somoni,” Latipov said.
A total damage caused by the disasters registered in January-June 2011 has been estimated at 38,622,200 somoni.
