DUSHANBE, October 24, 2011, Asia-Plus -- A central market in Khorog, the capital of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) has been practically burned away completely, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
The source at a MoI says the fire that broke out at the market on the night of October 21-22 destroyed 18 shops, four canteens and one shopping center. No injured was reported.
Damage caused by the fire has been estimated at 800,000 somoni (equivalent to more than U.S. 168,000 dollars). The cause of the fire is under investigation.
