KHUJAND, March 6, 2012, Asia-Plus -- three persons were killed and at least two others were injured Monday as Opel-Astra went into oncoming traffic in the Bobojonghafurov district, Sughd province.
According to the Sughd police directorate, the accident took place near the village of Yava.
“At least three vehicles were involved in the crash when Opel-Astra went into oncoming traffic and collided with Mercedes and VAZ-2107,” said the source. “As a result of the crash, the driver of VAZ-2107 and two passengers of Opel-Astra died on the spot, while the Mercedes driver and passenger of VAZ-2107 sustained various injuries and were taken to the Khujand central city hospital.” The cause of the accident is under investigation.
44 traffic accidents have been reported in northern Tajikistan over the first two months of this year. 24 people have been killed and 41 others have been injured in those accidents.
